Classic Cars Come to Gerrards Cross
The 17th annual Rotary Classic Car Show took place at Gerrards Cross Memorial Centre on 19 August.
We had the usual range of British, American and European Classic cars and motorcycles, something for all tastes and a fantastic visual history of the motor vehicle industry; around 120 vehicles in all.
The highlight of the day was the arrival of Andy and Emma Green with their 1904 Stanley Steam Car just a week after Andy broke the world land speed record for a hydrogen-powered car in Nevada at 406mph! Andy also holds the outright land speed record, breaking the sound barrier driving jet-powered ThrustSSC in 1997 (at 763mph) and the record for a diesel-powered car set in 2006 (350mph). Our Gerrards Cross record-breaker, a regular at the car show, said a few words and spent time chatting to attendees.
Live music was provided for the second year by the Monday Mojos and Rotary is grateful for the support of Gerrards Cross Community Association, Nunn Hayward and all the volunteers who helped beforehand and on the day.
