60th Birthday Party of Riding for the Disabled at Fulmer
Attended by HRH Princess Anne
Five Rotarians from Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter Rotary club attended this event which was held on Monday 12 th May.
Riding for the Disabled is a national charity which enables children to ride and be associated with horses from a young age which not only gives them great joy but in many cases builds up their confidence in all sorts of ways.
Our local branch is at Fulmer and has been run since it’s inception by Mrs Di Redfern who provides the land and stabling where it operates. She not only does this but also takes a very active part in day to day management both as chair and as a worker in the stables, which can be a cold and messy job in the winter.
This has been a wonderful and much appreciated charity over many years and amongst the highlights during that time has been the winning of both a gold and a bronze medal at the Paralympics.
Our Rotary club have been so pleased to support them during this time and at one time sponsored a horse named “Rotarian”. Attached is a picture of the attending Rotarians and of more importance of the school in action and the real heroes, the horses.
