Annual Golf Charity Day
This event has been run since 2005, initiated by the Rotary Club of Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter and the Gerrards Cross Golf Club and since 2012 also run by The Rotary Club of Misbourne Matins.
We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and a total of 106 players participated in teams of four. The course was as always in immaculate condition with fast true greens and perfect fairways. Winners of the main competition were the Rodgers partnership with 91 points.
An excellent dinner was served by the club in the clubhouse afterwards after which prizes were presented not only for the main event but also for nearest the pin, longest drive etc. An auction was conducted by Dusty Miller, ex Captain of GXGC, which raised the splendid total of over £6,000.
The total money raised after expenses was a little over £16,000, a record for the event.
The charities supported were The Epilepsy Society by the Golf Club, Helen and Douglas Children’s Hospice by Gerrards Cross Rotary and Slough Homeless Connection by Misbourne Matins RC.
This superb result could not have been achieved without all the hard work carried out by the members and staff of the Golf Club and both Rotary clubs. We were also grateful to receive many auction lots and raffle prizes without which such a high total would not have been possible.
We are holding next year’s competition on Friday afternoon September 4th 2026.
If anyone would like to participate or be involved in the organisation we should be very pleased to hear from you. In particular any suggestions for auction prizes are particularly appreciated.
