Hello, My Name is Heidi Long
And I am proud to be joining the Rotary Club of Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St. Peter.
From growing up in Chalfont St. Peter to competing on the Olympic stage, I have learned what is possible when communities believe and support you. I am now studying at the University of Oxford, where I am researching women’s reproductive health and serving as President of the Oxford University Boat Club. Alongside my studies, I train and race with the Great British Rowing Team. I was proud to win a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and I am working hard towards the 2026 Boat Race and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with the ambition of bringing home gold.
I am really excited to work with the Rotary and to support their commitment to making a difference in local communities. I want to inspire the next generation of young girls to believe in themselves and push their limits. I understand that no one achieves anything alone, every success I have had is thanks to the strength and support of my friends, family, teammates, coaches, and community. Being an ambassador for the Rotary Club is one way I can give back to the place where my journey began.
Supporting education is one of Rotary’s most important missions, and it is a cause I truly care about. From mentoring younger students in my school days, to captaining rowing teams, to supervising students at Oxford, I have always loved helping others learn and grow. I would be honoured to share these skills with local schools and to support the development of confident, empowered young people within our community.
Your support helps me continue my academic research whilst following my dreams in rowing. Thank you to the members of the Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St. Peter Rotary Club for their generosity, not only of my journey, but of so many others. I am looking forward to all we can achieve together.
